The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension maintains a statewide criminal history database covering Aitkin County and all other Minnesota counties. A BCA search returns felony and gross misdemeanor convictions from the past 15 years. Each search costs $8 through the BCA criminal history search portal.

BCA records show convictions reported to the state by law enforcement. MCRO shows the full court record, including charges that were dismissed or reduced. Running both provides a more complete picture for background check purposes. You can also use the BCA portal to search your own criminal history record.
